Palanga Amber Museum

The largest palace in the center of Birute Park houses the museum, one of the most visited places in the country. It is one of the world’s largest amber inclusion and unique pieces containing museums, with a total of over 30 thousand exhibits.

Visitors to the palace space on the ground floor admire the renovated historic interiors of the palace, telling about the lives of Count Tyszkiewicz in this palace. For visitors interested in the history of Palanga and the Tiskeviciai countryside there are authentically set up spaces: Hall, Event Hall, Red Salon, Grand Salon, Countess Cabinet, Blue Salon, Young Count Cabinet, Little Salon.

Surroundings of the residence of aristocrats is recreated in these representative halls of the palace where art pieces from the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 20th century from the interiors of manors of the nobility from the collections of Counts Tiškevičiai, other Lithuanian noblemen as well as private collections preserved by Lithuanian Art Museum are displayed. Romualdas Budrys is the author of interior expositions.

On the second floor there a unique amber exposition is presented, which introduces amber formation, trade routes, mining, processing. After 2015 It has been refurbished with archaeological exhibits, an updated collection of inclusions. Visitors can see a completely new exposition of amber morphology. The Chapel Exhibition Hall is inviting visitors to the temporary exhibition on the first floor.

Expositions, exhibitions are closed on Mondays and public holidays.
